Enrollment is underway for “Spring Art Camp” at the Hutchinson Art Center. 405 N. Washington St. There is still time to join in the fun.
Classes will take place on Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:30am for 1st -3rd Graders and 11:00am-12:00pm for students in 4th through 6th Grade.
Class Dates:
Session Three (two classes) April 17 & 24. Instructor: Ms. Alisha Jester.
Super Hero Bottle Sculpture: Over two Saturdays students will create a paper mache sculpture using only recycled materials and small decorative items lying around the house. Plenty of supplies will be on hand but please feel to bring your own from home. Items the artists can bring include a water bottle, yarn, beads, fabric, lace, sequins. Total cost for both classes is $20.00($10.00 per Saturday).
Mocked Stretched Hide: Students can spend a Saturday travelling back into history as they replicate stretching and painting a heavy hide using heavy brown paper, paints and a flexible frame. The artists will learn how to prepare a hide like Native Americans and early trappers.
Cost is $10.00 for the single Saturday.
The instructors for this spring’s classes will be Alisha Jester and Nicole Hoffman. Both teach art for USD 308. They both received their degrees in Art Education from Bethany College in Lindsborg Kansas.
