Mark Rassette is named Director of the Hutchinson Art Center

Jun 22, 2009

Dear Friends of the Hutchinson Art Association and the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council

The Board of the Hutchinson Art Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark L. Rassette as Executive Director of the Hutchinson Art Center. Mark has proven himself as Interim Director over the past six months since the resignation of David Murano. For the past ten years he has served as Executive Director of the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council (HRAH) and over that period of time has on numerous occasions worked closely with the Staff and Board of the Art Center.

Mark's educational and professional background makes him a logical choice to lead the Hutchinson Art Center. He also has deep community ties and a networking system already established with community organizations with mutual interests. Having recently served on the on the Art Association Board is also a plus in that he is familiar with the operation of the Center.

With the hiring of Mark the opportunity to form an informal, non-binding coalition with the Arts and Humanities Council presented itself. The HAC and HRAH will still maintain its separate legal and operational identity with Mark serving as Director of each group. This will result in substantial administrative savings for both organizations in that among other things each organization will be paying approximately two thirds of the salary previously paid to their Directors. This seems a prudent and opportunistic way for both organizations to address the future.

The office of the Hutchinson/Reno Arts and Humanities Council will be located in the Art Center at 405 N. Washington.

Please feel free to contact Mark with any questions, suggestions, or dreams about supporting and promoting the Arts and Humanities in our community.
