February 28th, 2:00pm: "Civil Rights: Then and Now," Mr. Kevin Myles, President of the Kansas NAACP will present an incisive overview of the history of the Civil Rights Movement and an analysis of the current state of Civil Rights in America.
March 20th, 2:00pm: "W. Eugene Smith, Photographer, Storyteller, Activist," Independent Scholar, Art Historian, and Noted Photographer, David Quick, will discuss the life and work of Wichita native W. Eugene Smith one of the most influential photographers of the 20th Century.
April 11th, 2:00pm: "A Few of my Favorite Things," Shelia Lisman, Writer, Retired English Teacher, and Community Columnist, will present a program of readings from writers that have influenced her and whom she has enjoyed over the years with a few personal stories woven in.
April 18th, 2:00pm: "Folk Art in Kansas,"Erika Nelson the Creator and Curator of the World’s Largest Collection of the World’s Smallest versions of World’s Largest Things Travelling Roadside Attraction and Museum in Lucas, Kansas will present the program. From traditions passed down from immigrant ancestors, to outsider artists and visionaries the Folk Art of Kansas has much to teach us about creativity and the innovative spirit that inspires our state. May 16th, 2:00pm: "Looking at Kansas: Visual Artists from the Sunflower State." Ron Michael, Curator of the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, Kansas, will provide the audience with an in-depth examination of four Kansas visual artists who achieved national recognition, John Steuart Curry, Birger Sandzen, Henry Varnum Poor, and Bruce Connor. All programs are free and open to the public; they take place on Sundays at 2:00pm and will be held at the Hutchinson Art Center at 405 N. Washington.
